Description
This property is a three-storey Grade II listed house located on Hampton Place in the Montpelier and Clifton Hill Conservation Area of Brighton. The property owners are both designers, and so a keen sense of detail underpinned the basis of the proposed design from the outset.
The proposals sought to form a new kitchen as the heart of the ground floor. Following close discussions with the local Conservation team, a furniture-based approach was conceived for the kitchen joinery, with a central island unit forming the main feature of the space, supplemented by individual wall hung cabinets. Key to this approach was to discreetly hide all of the kitchen appliances; a bespoke made sink is contained within a floating cupboard and hidden behind a folding door.
The main living room is located on the first floor, which was refurbished to include a new opening within the existing internal dividing wall to form a link to a library/study room. At second floor, the master bedroom was refurbished, alongside the creation of a new master ensuite bathroom. In addition, other changes to the property include restoring and incorporating mouldings and various details to match the buildings original style.
