Description
Situated on a hillside overlooking a picturesque Cornish estuary, this house had remained largely untouched since it had been constructed in 1990. The clients approached MortonScarr with a design brief to reimagine it’s layout and to fully refurbish it to provide a light and airy atmosphere, and embrace the views.
The house was arranged over a series of split levels, with the front of the property being half a storey higher than the rear, resulting in a dark centre to the house and little connection between rooms. Our first response was to design a new glass and light oak staircase that featured integrated LED lighting into its handrail, which acts a central feature to the entire property.
A new, bespoke kitchen was constructed to the front of the house featuring a central island and integrated dining table with views over the estuary.
A Master Suite was created on the top floor, adjacent to the Living Room. Vaulted ceilings, with new rooflights and accent LED lighting were created in both rooms to introduce natural light and a feeling of space.
New bathrooms finished in micro cement were created on each level of the house, alongside bespoke joinery throughout including bedroom wardrobes, headboards and cloakroom cupboards.
