Description
MortonScarr was initially appointed to refurbish this existing 1980s office building in central Sevenoaks both internally and externally. The building was stripped back to its concrete frame and then re-clad in a zinc and grey render finish, with new glazing and an improved entrance area. The offices were completely refurbished and new open plan spaces were created with glass partitions and bespoke joinery used to create the meeting rooms and private offices.
During the design process a new roof extension was proposed, which gained full support from the planning department. This extension has been successfully constructed on to the existing roof to create one large penthouse apartment. The form of the extension has been designed to respond to the neighbouring buildings – built in the historic part of the town centre. Timber screening has been used to create one continuous curve which flows from the inside entrance to the apartment, through the living spaces and out on to the external terrace, ending in a private external circular seating area.
Oversized windows to main living space create a stunning open plan area. A bespoke oversized pivot entrance door hides away seamlessly within the walls and allows the whole plan to be opened up. Both the bedrooms feature large ensuite shower rooms and private terraces.
